Restarting a Valve with a Magnet Swipe

This article explains the process for stating up or rebooting a valve with a magnet swipe.

Overview

A magnet of moderate strength will be needed to perform this function.  The Aquana SV1 and SV2 valves are equipped with an internal magnetic switch, specifically called a "Reed Switch", that will detect the presence of a magnet placed on a specific external point of the case.  Detection of this external magnet will either start the device from an "off" state, or restart a device that is already running.

Process

  1. Apply a magnet to the unit on the side opposite of the antenna cable for 3 seconds in order to power the device.  
  2. If the location is dark enough, you should see a light flashing near where the magnet was applied.  This indicates that the device is powered.  When the valve is started or restarted this way, all configuration settings will be reset to the most current settings as per the cloud database for your platform account.
    Note - if this process was used to restart the valve, please contact Aquana support when complete to ensure synchronization of the check-in interval.
  3. To confirm a successful restart, open the Aquana mobile app and login using your Aquana user account credentials.  
  4. Go to “Valve Control” by tapping on “Valve Control” in the main menu.
  5. Tap on (Select Valve) and select the valve you just restarted.  
  6. Select "Bluetooth" under Choose How to Connect
  7. Tap "Next"
  8. If all has gone well, the app will connect to the valve.  A position change should be performed to confirm valve function.  Be sure to leave the valve in the proper position when done.  Refer to Knowledge Base Article Change the Valve Position using Aquana Mobile if necessary for specific instructions on how to do this.  Contact Aquana support if the valve has not started/restarted successfully.
