How to Update Geolocation using Aquana Mobile

This article will explain how to set the geolocation of a smart valve using the Aquana Mobile App using either the mobile phone's geolocation or using a street address.


There are 2 ways to set the geolocation for a device. 

  • The first is by using your mobile phone's geolocation capability when you are directly connected to the device via bluetooth.  Get as close to the device itself as possible and wait a few minute for your mobile phone to triangulate its position before starting this process.

  • The second is by entering a street address and utilizing the geo coordinates provided by the Map API.  This process does not require you to be connected by bluetooth to the device or in range of the device.

Setting the valve geolocation using your mobile phone's geolocation:

  1. You will need to be within Bluetooth range of the device you wish to update with this process.  Enter your email and password, then tap on Sign in to log in to the Aquana Mobile App.
  2. Tap in the Select your Valve box and select the valve that you are geolocating.  Tap on the box labeled Bluetooth, and tap on Next at the bottom of the screen to connect to the valve.
  3. This will take you to the Valve Control screen.  Wait for the mobile app to scan the valve and read the current data on the valve.  When this is complete, UPDATE POSITION will appear at the bottom of the screen.  Tap on the Configure button at the top right of the screen.
  4. This will take you to the Configure screen within Valve Control.  Once there, tap in the "Update Geolocation" button.
  5. The app will automatically populate the geolocation with coordinates from your mobile device.  Once the coordinates have been entered, tap "UPDATE" at the bottom of the screen.
  6. A message will appear indicating that the geolocation has been successfully updated.

 

Setting the valve geolocation using a street address:

  1. For this procedure you do not need to connect directly with the valve via bluetooth.  You can connect via Cloud by choosing that option on the first Valve Control screen and tapping Next.
  2. From there, follow the same procedure as bluetooth above to get you to the "Update Geolocation" Screen
  3. Tap the "Set using street address" button and enter a street address directly. 
  4. The app will populate the geolocation with the Google Geo-coordinates associated with that address. 
  5. Then tap UPDATE at the bottom of the screen to save them.
